Over the weekend, Kenney held a press conference where he announced the doubling of his investment into the critical infrastructure that revolves around religious organizations. It was a peculiar announcement considering Kenney has jailed more pastors during the pandemic than anyone in Canada imagined possible — all in the name of public health orders. I was in attendance and probed Kenney on his reluctance to defend religious freedom in Alberta, as evidenced by his treatment of Christian pastors, including the numerous high-profile arrests of Pastor Artur Pawlowski. Pastor Artur has been behind bars for over a month, in solitary confinement, with no word on when he will be released. The arrest (his fifth since the start of COVID restrictions in Alberta) came after Pastor Artur appeared briefly at the Coutts border blockade to deliver a sermon to truckers protesting COVID vaccine mandates. He now faces charges of trespassing, mischief over $5,000 and is currently the first person ever to be charged under the Critical Infrastructure Defence Act.
