A Look Back Tonight as We Look Forward to 2012

Tonight as we celebrate New Year’s Eve, take a few moments to look back on what you have learned through the tea party movement since February, 2009.

  1. You have mobilized your fellow citizens time after time to make your voices heard about the out of control federal government spending. You have gathered either locally or in single locations with total crowd sizes going well beyond 1 million patriots who are as concerned about the future of our country as you. You know how to organize quickly to get a message out through traditional media and using new media as well.
  2. While we did not prevent the government from taking over our health care, you successfully educated Americans on the effects of the legislation.  You have done that so well that even last week, 53% of Americans want the law repealed.
  3. While you were educating Americans about the effects of the health care and other legislation, you also learned about how Congress works.  You learned about tricks called “Deem and Pass,” how many votes it takes to reach cloture, you learned about Senate Rules, you learned the House reestablishes their rules at the beginning of each session (every 2 years).
  4. We learned that even the majority of Republicans who “pledged” to cut $100 billion this year are unwilling to keep their promises. They are addicted to spending our money.  We learned very quickly in 2011 that our premise is correct, the Republicans cannot be trusted to cut spending without us holding their feet to the fire any more than the Democrats can.
  5. We saw a historic number of freshmen sworn into office in January, 2011 because we paved the path with our 3 core values for them. They campaigned on fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets.  Before March, we learned which ones would keep their promises and which ones cannot be trusted.
  6. The US Senate has not passed a budget in nearly 1,000 days.  That is the height of fiscal irresponsibility and goes against everything we, as Tea Party Patriots, have been fighting.
  7. The US debt reached 100% of the Gross Domestic Product in 2011.  The debt is currently at $15.17 trillion and continues to increase by the second.  While we fought tooth and nail to prevent our government from continuing to borrow money, the effects of the “debt ceiling deal” could not have been more obvious this week when the President asked for another $1.2 trillion increase; and he will get it because Congress has now said he can have the increase as long as both the Senate and House do not vote to disallow it.  We know now more than ever that we have to make changes and restore fiscal responsibility to our government!
We have learned a lot of tough lessons.  We have grown in size. We have learned how to work with and around the media.  We have pulled back the curtain on Washington, DC and now see how the show is being run.

As we go into 2012, our job is going to be to continue to do what we have done well:
  1. Spread the message of our core values far and wide: fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets. The more American voters who understand what we stand for and why it is so important, the better off our country will be.
  2. Continue to fight legislation based on our core values to pass at the federal, state, and local levels. We must continue to hold their feet to the fire.
  3. Ensure our fellow American voters, regardless of party, understand the importance of electing candidates who have a fiscally responsible plan to address the out of control government spending and to return to a constitutionally limited government.
It has taken decades for us to get into this predicament and it will take time to get out of it, but we must keep our focus. We must continue to make our voices heard to those who represent us and to the American people.

Tea Party Patriots will be here to help you do these things.  Thank you for your commitment to our country.  Together we can and will restore fiscal responsibility to our government and together we can and will restore our Constitution!

Thank you!

Local Coordinator Conference - January 20-21, 2012
North Charleston Convention Center/Embassy Suites
Charleston, South Carolina

Local Coordinators:

LAST DAY!

It’s been a long 3 years and 2012 is finally here! To ring in the New Year, Tea Party Patriots is proud to present our Local Coordinator Conference.

Specialized Training Sessions:
There are three main training sessions to choose from called “tracks.” Each track has 2 sessions and each track is offered twice. This means you can choose 2 of the 3 tracks offered.
  • Track 1: District and State Political Climate
Do you live in a red state but a blue district, or a blue state but purple district? Coordinators from many different political climates are sharing what has worked for their region, why it worked, how they built it, and what gave them the biggest bang for their buck.
  • Track 2: Public Speaking, Speechwriting and Media Interaction
How do audiences perceive your speeches? How can you get your message out in a hostile interview? The Leadership Institute will help you craft your public speaking skills, increase your confidence in media interaction and help you connect with your audience. Come prepared to give a short speech as well as help your fellow tea partiers hone their skills.
  • Track 3: Group Organization, Citizen Journalism and Grassroots Broadcasting
Believe it or not, these three areas have quite a bit in common. The first day of this track concentrates on promotion, publicity, communication and collaboration skills. The second day splits into three tailored sessions focusing on everything from fundraising to writing articles to program management.

General Sessions and Regional Breakouts:
Thursday night a viewing party for the GOP debate is open to all attendees. Throughout the conference, general sessions covering the 2012 Congressional elections, national program overview and regional/state breakout sessions are planned.
You are the heart and soul of the movement; we hope you can join your fellow coordinators!

instaPoll: What policy changes would make you more optimistic about our country's future?

Congressman Randy Forbes

"America's best days are yet to come,'' Ronald Reagan often declared.  But in a recent Rasmussen survey just 32 percent of those surveyed shared that sentiment, while 52 percent thought America's best days were past.  I believe America's greatest days are ahead of us, but we must realize that the direction of our nation's future lies within our ability to come together and deal with big issues, like providing more Americans jobs, reducing our debt, and maintaining a strong defense.  As Congress concludes 2011 and looks toward a new year, I'd like to hear your thoughts on what public policy initiatives would make you more optimistic about our country's future.

Question of the Week: What policy changes would make you more optimistic about our country's future?

Learn about my work on these issues by clicking the following hyperlinks: Job creation, Deficit reduction, A simpler, fairer tax code, A strong defense, Improvements to transportation and infrastructure, and Increased energy independence.

Season’s Greetings from Chairman Priebus and Family

To view this email as a web page, go here.

Dear Virginia,

As 2011 draws to a close, the holidays bring a treasured chance to welcome the spirit of joy and peace.  Surrounded by family and loved ones, we pause to give thanks for all of our blessings and cherish these happy days that warm our homes and fill our hearts.

Let us also remember this holiday season the many men and women serving our country overseas. We think of those far from home and of their families, who are even more aware today of their long absence. They should know we support them and pray for them -- ever mindful of their sacrifice and thankful for their service.

So on behalf of all of us here at the RNC, we wish you and your families a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year. May God richly bless you.

With warmest regards,
ReincePriebus-sig-blue
