In Fiscal Year 2014 alone, the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) released over 30,000 criminal aliens, according to information provided to the House Judiciary Committee. This has fueled conversations over whether the federal government is doing enough to protect U.S. citizens from criminal illegal immigrants, and whether it should be required to be more upfront with criminal illegal immigrant statistics and other basic data. In response, legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives to ensure that immigration statuses are included on arrest reports sent to the FBI. The Arrest Statistics Reporting Act also requires the federal government to publish illegal immigrant crime data in the FBI's annual crime reports.
