As we look forward to 2012, we challenge you to resolve to be a Steadfast Patriot in 2012.  A Steadfast Patriot is one that will be committed to making a difference in this country and knows we have an uphill battle. A Steadfast Patriot is one who is willing to make a commitment to do at least 1 task every week that will strengthen our organization, help us advance toward our goals, and will help us be better positioned to restore our core values to all levels of government.

Why Should I Become a Steadfast Patriot?

Tea Party Patriots and tea partiers across the nation are following in the Founders' footsteps because we are using the process laid out for us, by the Founders. They abhorred rapid change, as they knew that rapid change often resulted in negative consequences, i.e. violence, instability, loss of liberty. They understood that capricious change resulted in government by the whim of the current leaders, rather than by the rule of law. They wanted change to occur slowly and deliberately, and that's exactly what we're doing. So while the snail-paced changes are frustrating, we should take pride in knowing that we are doing things right, and if we believe in the Constitution and we believe in what our Founding Fathers left us, then the only option we have is to use what they gave us.

We are working within the system, as opposed to OWS who want to "smash" things and call for "revolution" because they don't want to work within the system. These people want to impose their vision upon us. They want upheaval and chaos because it is easier to take liberty and impose authoritarianism in the midst of chaos. We are working within the system, as opposed to the President who forced through massive overhaul legislation that will lead to a complete government takeover of our health care system when it was opposed by the majority of the people, bargained for in backrooms in the dead of night, and passed by manipulating the rules because they didn’t want to work within the system. We are working within the system, as opposed to the Democrats in the Senate who have failed to pass an annual budget for nearly 1000 days.

The Founders insisted that change be brought about by building a new consensus among the American people, and that takes a lot of time and effort. It means we must be willing to engage in the existing system and we must do the tedious work of educating our fellow citizens. That is really difficult and takes a lot of time and money, but we cannot make sweeping changes until we persuade the rest of America to support those changes. Otherwise, we are no better than President Obama and his party, shoving things like Obamacare onto the citizens. The left never takes the time to build consensus and they disparage the Founding Fathers all the time. They have no patience or respect for our history, and no understanding of how America has managed to prosper in peace and stability for so long.

So this lengthy process shouldn’t discourage people. We are walking along the path built for us by the great men who founded this exceptional nation, and we aim to keep it that way. That is one of the real differences between us and OWS and the left. We want to preserve our Constitutional Republic, and they want to destroy it.

What is the time commitment for a Steadfast Patriot?

Each week Tea Party Patriots will send an email with a task to complete sometime that week. The tasks will generally take about 15 – 60 minutes each week to complete.  The average time commitment is approximately 30 minutes a week.

The tasks will help equip you to be engaged.  They will help you spread the message further. The tasks will equip you to educate our fellow Americans about our core values. The tasks will enable you to contact your elected officials more easily.

What is it makes a Steadfast Patriot different than what I do each day anyway?

A Steadfast Patriot is simply a Tea Party Patriot who is taking the challenge and resolving to be engaged and complete 1 task each and every week of 2012 that will lead to building a new consensus and restoring our constitutional republic.  Remember: we cannot make sweeping changes until we persuade the rest of America to support those changes.  We must be willing to engage in the existing system and we must do the tedious work of educating our fellow citizens
