"politics as usual"

Last week, we learned about a meeting between several of President Trump’s top advisors—including his son Don, Jr., and son-in-law Jared Kushner—and a Vladimir Putin-connected lawyer who promised to deliver hacked political dirt on the Clinton campaign.

Friend,

Last week, we learned about a meeting between several of President Trump’s top advisors—including his son Don, Jr., and son-in-law Jared Kushner—and a Vladimir Putin-connected lawyer who promised to deliver hacked political dirt on the Clinton campaign.

Initially, the White House dismissed the encounter as insignificant. But as more details emerge, we’re finally uncovering the truth:

Trump campaign leadership accepted aid from Russian emissaries while Moscow actively worked to destabilize our elections.

President Trump first defended his son’s innocence but now claims this attack against our democracy amounts to little more than politics as usual. His lawyer went on several Sunday morning talk shows to blame the Secret Service for letting the Russians into Trump Tower.

Friend—Trump’s leadership team welcomed a suspected former Soviet counterintelligence officer, Rinat Akhmetshin, into the meeting. That’s not “politics as usual.” That’s depraved.

With the Trumps seemingly endorsing Russian malfeasance in America, we can expect Putin’s destabilization efforts against our institutions to increase—unless Congress acts soon.

Watch our latest video and share it with your friends, then demand that Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McCarthy pass the overwhelmingly bipartisan Russia sanctions bill immediately.

Thank you for standing with us to defend democracy through the promotion of liberty, equality and truth.

"a big nothing burger"

That’s what President Trump's Chief of Staff Reince Priebus called a meeting between Trump's top campaign advisors and a Vladimir Putin-connected lawyer

Friend,

“A big nothing burger” — that’s what President Trump's Chief of Staff Reince Priebus called a meeting between Trump's top campaign advisors and a Vladimir Putin-connected lawyer.

But yesterday, in an email thread published online by the President’s son, we learned even more about the exchange that took place inside Trump Tower last year:

DJT Jr. Tweet

Friend, news about the Russian government’s support for Mr. Trump—and their eagerness to pass along hacked information to the Trump campaign—is anything BUT a “nothing burger!”

We must continue to expose Russia’s influence over our politics and help Americans understand the depth and breadth of Moscow’s tactics. If we don’t hold them accountable now, Vladimir Putin and his allies will have every incentive to continue attacking our democratic norms, ideals and institutions.

Watch and share our latest video, then demand that Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy pass the overwhelmingly bipartisan Senate sanctions bill against Moscow immediately.

House Republicans need to decide their loyalties. Will they advance Putin’s agenda in the US or prioritize America’s interests and values?

Let’s be clear: inaction is unacceptable, plain and simple.

We need strong Russia sanctions to protect our nation from Moscow’s future attacks.

ICYMI: Independence Day

We hope you enjoyed spending time with family and friends yesterday. For us, Independence Day serves as a reminder that we must stand up for liberty each and every day.

We hope you enjoyed spending time with family and friends yesterday. For us, Independence Day serves as a reminder that we must stand up for liberty each and every day.

— Evan and Mindy

Some 241 years ago, our fledgling republic committed itself to several self-evident truths and an independent destiny. Among other things, the Founders proposed a pathway toward equality for all and prescribed a set of unalienable rights. Our journey toward the realization of that vision has taken many turns and given rise to at-times-competing perspectives. Whenever we’ve faced a fundamental threat to our posterity, though, Americans across the political spectrum have united to defend the nation.

In our modern era, we find ourselves facing multiple external and internal challenges.

As former President Ronald Reagan said in 1967, freedom is “never more than one generation away from extinction” and “must be fought for and defended constantly.” We currently face threats from hostile foreign nations seeking to weaken us by undermining our commitment to our country’s core principles.

Because the President and his allies in the House of Representatives refuse to address this serious issue — leaving us vulnerable to future attacks — we must demand their action. Indeed, as scores of Americans have done throughout our history, we must once again defend our liberty.

Today’s holiday highlights the long-standing battle to defend liberty, equality and truth, and it reminds us that the road ahead requires vigilance.

So whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, enjoying a fireworks display or cheering on your favorite baseball team, take some time to reflect on everything we’ve faced as a republic and our great fortune to be its sons and daughters. History may one day describe this as a defining moment in our ever-unfolding national story.

As Americans, we’ve been given an incredible opportunity to determine our own destiny, but we are also responsible for maintaining the norms and institutions that protect our most basic rights. Moving forward — together — we must focus our efforts and recommit ourselves to the defense of our liberty.

Thank you, as always, for supporting Stand Up Republic in this cause. Happy Independence Day.
