RNC Chairman Priebus Calls On President Obama’s Campaign To Pay For His Debt-End Bus Tour

“If The President Would Rather Campaign Than Lead, His Re-Election Campaign Account Should Foot The Bill.”

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement calling on President Obama to use his campaign account to pay for his Debt-End Bus Tour instead of taxpayers:

“This week taxpayers made a donation to the Obama re-election campaign.  No matter what the President says, his Midwest bus tour is nothing but a campaign trip. As his approval rating hits a new low, the White House is resorting to desperate measures to salvage his image.  He said he would make jobs his number one focus.  This week he is focused on just one job: his own.

“Worse yet, he’s campaigning on the taxpayer’s dime.  Rolling through the Midwest in a brand new million-dollar taxpayer-funded tour bus, the President is holding town halls to rally his disaffected supporters in states crucial to his re-election.  He’s talking about campaigning against Congress and dolling out talking points, not policy plans.

“If the President would rather campaign than lead, his re-election campaign account should foot the bill.”

MSNBC’s Chuck Todd Says Obama’s Re-election Campaign Is “Stitched Throughout This Trip”: “It feels like a campaign trip. it certainly walks like one, it quacks like one, and politics comes up in it. Even the president yesterday talking about this plan he's going to unveil in September, he said, and if congress doesn't pass it, he'll campaign against them. So the campaign is stitched throughout this trip.” (Chuck Todd, MSNBC’s Daily Rundown, 8/16/2011)

Hardball’s Chris Matthews Admits Obama Is Hitting The Campaign Trail: “He hits the campaign trail today, of course, with town hall stops in Minnesota, ending up in Iowa … ” (Chris Matthews, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, 8/15/2011)
