RSC: Sign the Letter Urging No Tax Increases in "Supercommittee" Bill

RSC Chairman Jordan urges all RSC Members to sign the letter below, spearheaded by Rep. Patrick McHenry, to urge the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (the “Supercommittee”) not to increase taxes on Americans.  The current list of71 signers is below.

The key line in the letter is as follows: “With current levels of taxation already limiting economic growth, we believe that marginal rates must be maintained or lowered and that repeal of any tax credit or deduction be offset with an equal or greater tax cut.”

We anticipate sending this letter TOMORROW. Thank you---

Dear Representative Hensarling, Senator Murray, and Members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction:
It is evident that America has a fiscal crisis because Washington spends too much, not because it taxes too little. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, tax revenues will reach or exceed the historical average of 18 percent of economic output by the end of this decade, even as spending continues to increase at an unsustainable rate. Increasing taxes on Americans would destroy jobs, erase all hope of an economic recovery, and simply serve to feed out-of-control spending in Washington.
Thus, as you begin the important task to reach a deficit reduction agreement, we ask that any policies the Joint Select Committee prescribes not increase Americans’ tax burden. With current levels of taxation already limiting economic growth, we believe that marginal rates must be maintained or lowered and that repeal of any tax credit or deduction be offset with an equal or greater tax cut.
Although there are diverse beliefs toward specific policies that should be included in any deficit reduction plan, we must recognize that increasing the tax burden on American businesses and citizens, especially during a fragile recovery, is irresponsible and dangerous to the health of the United States.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Teller

  1. Mark 10:43-43, Jesus said "You know thqat those who are supposed to rule over the gentiles lord it over them, and their great men xerdcise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you; for whoever would be great among you must be your servant." So my advice as follows:
    1) If Congress is really serious about the economy, they must reduce their's (and the president's) salaries by half and eliminate all benefits. Ths was never meant to be a vocation.
    2) Stop our vain attitude as police and welfare of the world, and exit this no-win Arab civil war. Only the Gospel can change men.
    3) Stop foolish policy of Keynesian economics, and stop all earmarks. Require balanced budget.
    4) Stop all foreign subsidies which amount to bribes. Stop all or most domestic subsidies.
    5) Health insurance removed competition in medical care, resulting in greed and fraud in medical professions and abuse by patients. Restore competition. How?
    6) Congress needs work rules to prevent "rail-roaded" legislation. A 80% majority will also limit legislation to that really needed.
    7) Need Right-to-Work to restore competition and prevent loss of jobs to overseas.
    8) Validate elegibility and have courage to remove any self-defined dictator-president.
    9) Stabilize this fickle stock market and penalize predator stock brokers and tycoons.
    10) Reurn public education to local citizens, presently under the control of Dewey's atheistic humanist theology. Restore freedom of Christianity and remove establishment of Darwinism in public education and places.
