Volume 84 -- September 25, 2012

As we work together to defeat Barack Obama and elect Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and Republican candidates up and down the ticket in November, Victory Insider continues to keep you informed about Campaign 2012 and our Party’s fight for commonsense conservative policies in Washington.  Thank you again for all you do for the RNC!

2012 ELECTION COUNTDOWN:                                                                Follow us today on:
Election Day:   42 Days                                                                                               Facebook Twitter youtubebutton
In this week’s installment:

A Clear Choice
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus makes it perfectly clear -- when voters go to the polls in November, they’ll be voting for either Barack Obama’s vision of Big Government and wealth redistribution or Mitt Romney’s commitment to prosperity and freedom for America.  (Reince Priebus, “Priebus Opinion: It’s ‘Redistribution’ or American Dream,” Politico, 9/20/2012)

GOP Ground Game Update
RNC Political Director Rick Wiley gives the inside scoop on our Party’s historic effort to maximize the vote for Mitt Romney and GOP candidates up and down the ticket nationwide.  The final stretch of Campaign 2012 is here, and the RNC is ready to support Republican victories across America.  (Rick Wiley, “GOP Blog: Ground Game Update,” GOP.com, 9/24/12)

Telling It Straight
“The headlines this weekend were all about the boos Paul Ryan elicited on Friday when he addressed the AARP, the self-styled seniors’ lobby. The herd of independent media minds missed the real story, which is that the Republican Vice Presidential nominee went into the heart of the entitlement culture, told some hard truths, and even won applause for doing so.”  (Editorial, “Ryan at the AARP: The Real Story is That He Didn’t Trim His Ideas and Still Won Applause,” Wall Street Journal, 9/23/2012)

Giving Back
“Mitt Romney has, in the past two years, paid almost $5 million in taxes while giving away $7 million. And, as he said, he has paid the taxes he was supposed to pay according to the laws of the United States, which is all that is required -- legally, morally and practically -- of anyone… The release of these tax records leaves no doubt about one thing: Mitt Romney is an extraordinarily, remarkably, astonishingly generous man. A good man. Maybe even a great man.” (John Podhoretz, Romney the Giver: The Big News From Tax Returns,” New York Post, 9/21/2012)

Inside Romney HQ
Townhall’s Guy Benson gets an inside look at the Romney campaign headquarters in Boston and hears first-hand how Governor Romney’s team is working to defeat Barack Obama in November.  (Guy Benson, “Inside Team Romney’s Plan to Win,” Townhall, 9/18/2012)

Bamboozled by Obama
“How can any cogent American citizen possibly even consider voting for Barack Obama now? That’s what lots of conservatives and moderates are asking each other, again and again. It’s completely baffling, to those who grew up with any sort of sense of what America means and what the American character traditionally has been, that anybody can look at the man’s record and want more of the same.” (Quinn Hillyer, “Obama’s Dangerous and Disastrous Presidency: Name a Single Thing That Has Improved Under His Rule,” Spectator, 9/19/2012)

Stupid Democrat Tricks
While Barack Obama is busy appearing on late night comedy shows, the RNC Research team has been compiling the “Top Ten” list that everyone needs to hear.  (RNC Research, “Obama’s Top Ten Failed Policies: The Top Ten They Won’t Show at Obama’s Appearance on Letterman,” GOP.com, 9/18/2012)

Killing Coal Jobs
“'In West Virginia, fellow Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito said her constituents want to stay in their home state and raise their families, ‘but the president’s extreme policies are cripplingly entire towns and making it harder for workers to find jobs.’”  (Vicki Smith, "Alpha closing 8 mines, cutting 1,200 jobs in all,” Associated Press, 9/18/2012)

ObamaCare Cost Explosion
“Current federal regulations plus those coming under Obamacare will cost American taxpayers and businesses $1.8 trillion annually, more than twenty times the $88 billion the administration estimates, according to a new roundup provided to Secrets from the libertarian Competitive Enterprise Institute."  (Paul Bedard, “Washington Secrets:$1.8 Trillion Shock: Obama Regs Cost 20-times Estimate,” Washington Examiner, 9/20/2012)

By His Own Admission
After President Obama admitted that he can’t change Washington -- even though that was the central promise of his campaign four years ago, the RNC released this new video.  Maybe he’s gotten too cozy with the lobbyists he hired in the White House or wasted too many taxpayer dollars on failed green energy companies like Solyndra?

Great Expectations?
“One of the chief reasons the media is so mistaken in their zeal to proclaim Obama the election winner is that most of the polls they’re basing their predictions on are wildly inflating Democrat turnout. The overwhelming majority of media polls are assuming an electorate that is at least as Democrat as the one in 2008, with many polls assuming a higher Democrat turnout. This is just daft. The latest CBS poll of 3 swing states is the most recent to show that GOP has a huge turnout advantage over Democrats.”  (Mike Flynn, “CBS Poll: GOP Has Huge Voter Turnout Edge Over Dems,” Breitbart, 9/19/2012)

Dependency Agenda
“A new report from the Congressional Research Service obtained by the Washington Examiner suggests that the administration’s suspension of a separate welfare work requirement has already helped explode the number of able-bodied Americans on food stamps."  (Phillip Klein, “CRS Report: Number of Able-bodied Adults on Food Stamps Doubled After Obama Suspended Work Requirement,” Washington Examiner, 9/19/2012)

Redistributing Your Wealth
Check out the RNC’s new web videos, “Redistribution” and “Redistribution II” -- shedding light on President Obama’s belief that redistributing wealth creates prosperity. If this were true, unemployment would be below 8%, we wouldn’t have exploding deficits, or have a record number of people in poverty. The fact is redistribution has not worked, and America needs Governor Romney who embraces free enterprise to get Americans back to work.

“Middle East Madness”
Faced with the ferocious attacks leveled at Americans in the Middle East by extremists who view Barack Obama and his weak foreign policy of apology and appeasement with disdain, the Obama Administration’s excuses and denial only make things worse.  (Victor Davis Hanson, “Middle East Madness, National Review, 9/20/2012)

Weekly Republican Video Address
In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) says that the Senate Democrat majority has decided to adjourn through November having failed to meet one of its most basic obligations -- passing a federal budget. “For the last three years, in a time of national crisis, Senate Democrats have deliberately violated the legal requirement to produce a budget plan,” Sessions says. But Sessions, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, says that won’t happen if Republicans gain control of the Senate next year. “If given the chance, Republicans will get this government under control. A Republican Senate will pass a budget.”
